We face immense challenges: climate change, loss of biodiversity, ageing and family fragmentation, increasing spatial disorder - to name a few. Fortunately, more and more people realise that action is needed. Our future depends on how we deal with these environmental and social challenges over the next decade. A green sauce will not be sufficient. We need a real transition or turnaround: from a linear to a circular economy, from fossil to renewable energy and from a destructive to a regenerative system in which we restore, renew and revitalise natural processes.

In recent years, we have seen a lot of hopeful initiatives shaping these transitions. The example book ‘Urbanism can be done like this’ offers concrete solutions for our cities and towns and illustrates them through positive projects in which the health and well-being of people and nature take precedence.
