Momentum, Flemish-Belgian magazine for heritage and society, focuses on the challenges of the twenty-first century. Each issue puts forward a different urgent social theme in which heritage can play a contemporary role. The first issue of Momentum argues for more collective living as an answer to the major spatial issues in the field of climate, living together, ecology and circularity. Heritage plays a double role in this. Repurposing and restoration are gaining in importance in architecture. This creates opportunities, both for the heritage that is cherished and preserved for the future, and for housing. In addition, the rich tradition of collective living in Flanders is an inexhaustible source of knowledge built up by the generations before us.
Momentum is an initiative of the Heritage Agency. Each issue is produced with different partners. The first issue on collective living is the result of a collaboration with the agency Living Flanders, the Flemish Architecture Institute, the Team Vlaams Bouwmeester, the Flemish Society for Social Housing, the Environment Department and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
