Petra Pferdmenges is one of Europe’s pioneers of practice research in the field of architecture and urbanism. Her practice largely takes place in fragile neighbourhoods in Brussels and constantly shifts between bottom-up and top-down urban projects. Her strategy is to encourage local people to take neighbourhood revitalisation into their own hands. As in a kind of Bildungsroman, the publication gives a picture of how her practice came about: from the more classical design of public space to a role as curator of various actors in public space.
