Thomas More’s Utopia celebrates its 500th anniversary. We celebrate it with an exhibition at Museum M, and with a book. EUtopia – Possibility of an Island raises the question of the criticality of utopia and of architecture as utopian practice. How can utopian thinking still be relevant today? Can we still situate utopia on a pristine island? Shouldn't good architecture be somewhat utopian?
Thomas More's book is still surprisingly relevant today. The publication starts from a close reading of the text and the questions it raises for the 21st century. Four teams of architects and an artists’ collective set to work on these questions and hold up a mirror to our society.
